Skin care tips to get glowing skin AM:
Reader, there are so many content creators out there already that constantly offer skincare tips that are full of fad. Often times, the “tips” they offer are only to sell a product. Have no fear reader, because your skincare fairy godmother is here:
Reader, you really do not need very expensive products to have a good skincare routine. All you really need is a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen. It is not the product name, it is how you use the product. However, before we move onto how you must use the product, here are a few notes about how you should pick your desired products. First, you want to make sure they are not scented; scent will often times dry out and irritate your skin, especially if you have acne prone skin. Second, you should make sure the products are non-comedogenic. In other words, the products should not have ingredients that are pore-clogging as this can cause pimples to form on your face. Third, there are a lot of different types of cleansers and moisturizers and sunscreens. Some say they are milky cleansers, some say they are oil based sunscreens. So, before you pick out a specific product that claims to be milky, know your skin type and choose your product based off of that. Here is a chart for you to determine your skin type and therefore choose your products.
1st step: Cleanser
The cleanser step is often the most overlooked and poorly done step of many peoples’ skincare routines. What you want to do is squeeze some onto your hand and lather it onto your face. Next, you must emulsify the cleanser by adding in water and really rubbing it into your skin for about 30 seconds to a minute. Next you wash the cleanser off and then wait for it to dry for the next step.
2nd Step: Moisturizer
A misconception about moisturizer is that if you have oily skin, it will create more oil on your face. This is definitely not true, and you should definitely not skip the moisturizer step. If you have oily skin and only go in with drying products, then your skin will overproduce oil, leading to breakouts. This is why moisturizer is so important. However, depending on the condition of your skin then, you may want to adjust the amount of moisturizer you use. For example, if you are having very irritating dryness, then go in with a heavier hand for moisturizer.
3rd Step: Sunscreen:
Sunscreen gets a very bad rep as it can sometimes clog pores or feel heavy on the face. So if you are having difficulty choosing a sunscreen, go to my top 5 best drugstore sunscreen article to choose the best sunscreen for your skin type. The best way to get coverage out of your sunscreen is to use the two finger method. Add two lines of sunscreen to your index and middle finger. This will ensure that you will get the best protection. To be honest, in the morning if you are wearing sunscreen then you really do not need moisturizer, as many sunscreens double as moisturizers. But, if you still want moisturizer in your routine, do not mix your sunscreen with your moisturizer. This will dilute the sunscreen’s protectiveness. Moreover, at the end of the day, if you have been wearing sunscreen all day, then you want to really cleanse your face to get rid of any particles that may have clung onto your sunscreen.
